Advantages of Twin Screw Barrel Processing

JINZIE SCREW is a well known in the industry for almost 20 years. As for twin screw barrel, it got wider application than Conical one because of its greater L/D ration. It can be utilized in a variety of extrusion like PP, PE, ABS, etc. The basic function of twin screw barrel is to feed solid materials directly from one end to the other at elevated velocity. These are mainly used in machining operations involving large number of pieces to be drilled or cut.

There are various advantages of using twin screw barrels as compared to single screw barrel. First of all, in comparison to single barrel, twin screw barrels are available in a larger diameter. This increases the range of operation of these products.

Another major advantage is that they offer high fatigue and stress resistance. They have the ability to bear extreme pressures and high temperatures, which are required in some of the exotic machines, like those made for drilling oil or casting metal. In a nutshell, twin screw barrels have better Wear Resistance than single barrel ones.

If we compare conical drill bits with those of twin screw barrel, then we will find that the former has better tensile strength. They also provide better adhesive adhesion for fastening thin sheet metals. Moreover, conical drill bits wear faster than those of twin screw barrel. In fact, it is believed that they are able to work more accurately than the former.

In some of the common applications, such as PVC pipe fitting, the wear resistance is quite good, due to the small diameter of the bar. The conical pattern in the barrel provides good gripping, friction and anti-bacterial properties. In some of the industrial applications, such as for water purification, it is observed that the barrel twist gives better performance. This happens due to the presence of larger teeth along with anti-corrosion and anti-tarnish properties. The ideal case would be the parallel twin screw barrel with a small, cap-topped conical window.

The conical twin screw barrel with a cap-topped conical window is preferred in many of the applications where the heat generated is high. Such as in an oil desiccant or for drying petroleum products. The cap-topped barrels are better than the parallel twin screw ones due to the fact that they do not need lubrication for faster cooling. It means that a parallel twin screw extruder barrel with a cap-topped conical window is less effective, as the heat generated is very high.
